Lausanne f'ar - forum d'architectures
Atrip into the heart of architecture, city planning and all that affects the quality of the framework of life and the built environment: this is what is offered in the basement of the f’ar, the forum d’architectures.
Since the autumn of 2000, in the vast Villamont museum that previously housed the Museum of Decorative Arts (now the mudac and located in the City), it has brought architecture to the public eye and has served as a means of liaison between those who plan the city and constructions: architects, city planners, landscapers, engineers and photographers, their users.
Rethinking the city together
By documenting its history, its present and its prospects for the future, the museum also offers an opportunity to share in the emotions and challenges of architecture and to rethink the city together.
With an unbiased educational touch, it provides an overview of the interesting offices at work in the Romand landscape, reveals the results of competitions, hosts the Object-if festival (views of the city by plastic artists, photographers, videomakers and filmmakers from all over the world), welcomes the winners of the five-yearly “Distinction Romand d’Architecture” and offers – in association with the EPFL – a rich programme of conferences, meetings and debates with international architects.
