Environment (1st section)
Preservation of the environment is a long-time concern for the City of Lausanne. Various measures intended to prevent or limit ecological pollution produced by our society have been introduced over the past few decades, particularly in terms of automobile traffic and energy policy.
Environmental questions are a key component of sustainable development, which is why this aspect was chosen to launch Agenda 21 in Lausanne.
This report/notice itemizes actions that the administration has already undertaken, including high-priority projects concerned with the same philosophy. Promoting wood by using it for heating, paving, or public benches, banning any use of tropical timber species in the Community, preserving peri-urban agricultural spaces, and protecting and extending community green areas are a few of the specific measures proposed to the City Council within the framework of an Agenda 21 developed by all seven municipal sections.
A community regulation identifies all of the industries that may be affected financially by funding for sustainable development. It allows authorities some latitude in acting and forming a foundation for encouraging sustainable development activities.
