Vanessa Binggeli, student
‘Wherever I go in the world, I will always remember this spectacular view.’
Why did you choose to study in Lausanne?
VB | I didn't really choose Lausanne, I wanted to come to the EHL because of its reputation.
What were your first impressions when you arrived in Lausanne?
VB | It was a large city, smaller than other Swiss cities, but it has everything you need.
What did you do before starting a course of higher education in Lausanne?
VB | I worked as a chambermaid at the Hyatt Regency in Perth in Australia, a five-star hotel, in order to gain some experience.
If you had to define the study environment in Lausanne in just three words, what would they be?
VB | Safe, bustling and culturally diverse.
Can you tell us about any memorable events you have experienced during your studies?
VB | What first struck me was the fact that the number of things you learn from one year to the next increases and intensifies continually. Secondly, it's the central location of Switzerland in Europe. It's very easy for international students like us to travel to France, Italy and Germany.
What are you planning to do after your studies?
VB | I don't think I'll carry on studying after my bachelor. I'm going back to Hong Kong to find a job and gain professional experience.
Would you recommend Lausanne as a town in which to start your higher education?
VB | Yes, because Lausanne has some of the best colleges in the world.
And your fondest memory of Lausanne?
VB | Summer time, by the lake in Ouchy, with pedalos and the view over Evian. Wherever I go in the world, I will always remember this spectacular view.
