The 20km de Lausanne is a popular road race jointly organised by the City of Lausanne’s Sports Department, and the Lausanne-Sports and Stade-Lausanne athletics clubs; it celebrated its 25th edition in 2006. The following races start from Vidy-Coubertin: 2km, 4km, "2km Fun Run", "4km Fun Run", 10km and 20km. The 2km and 4km races for children are free to enter. For more information check the website.
The Cyclotour du Léman is a popular cycling race which is open to all – both amateur and keen sportsmen and women. The event runs along the Swiss and French shores of Lake Geneva. Four routes are proposed: the 180km Tour of Lake Geneva starting from Lausanne; the half-tour of the lake from Evian to Lausanne; and the 60km route from Geneva to Lausanne. A fourth new 120-km route climbs 1,800m via the Marchairuz and Mollendruz passes. For more information check the website.

The Journée Lausannoise du Vélo (Lausanne Bike Day) is a sporting event which first started in 1982 and is jointly organised by the City of Lausanne’s Sports Department, together with various Lausanne cycling clubs (Cyclophile lausannois, Vélo Club Lausanne and Vélo Club Chailly) and the Vaud branch of the Swiss Touring Club. The event starts at Chalet-à-Gobet and various routes are proposed: 10, 20 and 30km for mountain bikes and 30, 50, 100 and 160km by road. Participants are not timed; the idea is simply to take part with friends and family. For more information check the website.
