The 24 Heures de Natation (24-hour Swim), which is organised by the Lausanne Swimming Club, has been held for over 20 years at Mon-Repos Swimming Pool. Throughout the weekend water-related demonstrations and other activities are proposed. The event is open to anyone who can swim over 50 metres unassisted. No age or time limits. Olympic Week, which is organised by the Olympic Museum and supported by various city council departments, held its 25th edition in 2005. The event has always taken place during the first week of the canton Vaud October school holidays and is open to children aged 9-15. Over 40 different sports are proposed free of charge and tried out 50,000 times under the watchful eyes of sporting experts. A pass gives free access to all activities taking place at Ouchy between Place de la Navigation and Tour Haldimand. For more information check the website.
The Lausanne Marathon is an international event that was launched in 1993 with 1,522 participants. Since then it has continued to grow to over 9,600 participants in 2006. The race leaves Ouchy towards La Tour-de-Peilz. Six different races are on offer: the marathon (42.195km), the half-marathon (21.097km), the quarter marathon (10.548km), walking and nordic walking (10.548km), the mini-marathon for children (4.219km), wheelchair and handcycle (21.097km).
