Wellbeing

The reputation of Lausanne as a healthcare centre goes hand in hand with a broad range of services to enhance the well being (or wellness to use the current jargon term!) of guests. Several small establishments offer some facilities (sauna, hammam, fitness centres and other ways of reducing stress), but the city's two palace hotels provide what can only be called true paradises of well being. The Lausanne Palace & Spa, for some years now, and the Beau Rivage Palace, since the autumn of 2005, have been home to private clubs reserved for hotel guests, but also open to members, where the arts of beauty, well being and restoration of fitness can be pursued in an idyllic setting: swimming pool, fitness centre, gym, sauna, hammam, balneology, massage, face care, beauty treatment... Has the spa («sanitas per aqua») not become a «must» for persons wishing to lead a successful life founded on one of the wisest rules of all «Mens sana in corpore sano» (A healthy mind in a healthy body)?
