Lausanne offers a multitude of venues devoted to music of all kinds. Classical music with the OCL, choral music with Michel Corboz’s Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne and the Chœur Laudate, chamber music with an array of groups, including the Sinfonietta, the Camerata of Lausanne and the Sine Nomine quartet. Year after year, the Conservatory and Pierre Amoyal’s Academy of Music train a number of orchestra musicians. Jazz too has enjoyed surprising longevity, with the Chorus jazz basement and the Onze+ Festival, which both started in 1988 and are still going strong. Finally, modern music is enjoyed at specialized venues like Les Docks, Romandie and the Bourg, not to mention the festivals and the Fête de la Musique.
