A foundation for the public good

The «Centre Sport-Etudes Lausanne» (Lausanne Sport Study Centre) Foundation was set up for young people (girls and boys) who are aiming for a career in sport at a high level; its objectives are to provide conditions conducive to the blossoming of their personality and to their sporting, academic and professional success, and to ensure respect for ethical rules and the fundamental rights of young athletes.

It was set up on the initiative of the City of Lausanne in partnership with the Canton of Vaud, Olympic Solidarity and various political, sport-related and commercial bodies.

To achieve these objectives, the Foundation runs the Lausanne Sport Study Centre (CSEL), based within La Pontaise Olympic stadium since January 2002. It offers support for clubs and federations involved in training talented young athletes as well as infrastructures adapted to their needs.

Who the Centre is aimed at:

It is intended for young people (girls and boys) from 15 to 20 years of age who are aiming for a career in sport at a high level. They are registered by their club, association, or federation, which will have drawn up a partnership agreement with the Centre beforehand.

How the Centre works:

• Collaboration with clubs and federations training young talent.
• Support and supervision for talented young trainees.
• Platform for coordination between academic, professional and sports community and parents.

Duration of the partnership:

The duration of the partnership between talented youngsters and the Centre depends on that of their training, i.e.

• Completion of apprenticeship and award of a CFC
• Diploma
• Matura

A minimum of one year however, from 1 July to 30 June.

Fees:

The fees for an intern are 500 francs per month and include:

• accommodation and dinner (other meals are charged at CHF 12);
• night-time supervision and surveillance;
• academic supervision;
• supervised lessons;
• support courses;
• pedagogical supervision;
• training courses (nutrition, healthy lifestyle, etc.).
